If you look in the mirror you may notice that your teeth look different in shape than they did when you were 10 years old. The change, whatever you may notice is NOT from age and contrary to what you might read on line or hear from many dentists it is NOT “normal”.

25. chipped teethIn my dental practice I have a number of patients 70, 80, or even 90 years old who have NO or very little change in the shape of their teeth.

The enamel on your teeth is harder than steel (look it up on line). This does not mean you cannot break it, BUT it means it can last a lifetime under normal conditions and a normal diet without wearing all the way down to the underlying dentin.

At Wilton Dental Associates we can help you prevent wear of your teeth and in particular damage to your TMJ. And if you already have wear, the good news is that we can restore your teeth to their original strength and appearance and in many cases we can even improve on their original appearance.
